The route at a glance
The Diemel cycle path follows the Diemel for about 110 kilometres, from its source near Willingen in the Sauerland to Bad Karlshafen, where it flows into the Weser. After the hilly start you ride through the green Diemel valley with woods, meadows and small villages. Stop in Marsberg, with the remains of an old castle, and in the well preserved old town of Warburg before the baroque spa town of Bad Karlshafen. The path is mostly flat and well surfaced, good for families and a first cycling trip.
