## The route at a glance

The Main Cycle Path follows the river Main for around 600 kilometres through Bavaria and Hesse. You ride through the Main valley with its vineyards, woods and water meadows, reaching the World Heritage town of Bamberg with its cathedral and then Würzburg, known for its Residence and Franconian wine. Further downstream come Aschaffenburg with Johannisburg Castle and Frankfurt am Main with its skyline. The route is mostly flat and well surfaced, so it suits cyclists of any experience level.
