You climb the Fern Pass (1,216 m) and the Reschen Pass (1,507 m), then descend through the Vinschgau orchards to Merano, Bolzano and Trento. There one branch runs via Verona to Ostiglia on the Po, the harder one via Feltre to Altino near Venice.
