The route at a glance

The Grande Traversée du Jura runs for about 400 kilometres through the French Jura mountains, from Montbéliard in the north to Culoz in the south. You ride through large forests, past caves and clear lakes, climbing onto ridges and dropping back into deep valleys. In the Haut-Jura you pass traditional villages with dairies that make Comté, and further south the route follows the Ain through its gorges. It is signposted and suits riders with some experience who don't mind climbing.
