The route at a glance

The Neckar Valley Cycle Path follows the Neckar for about 370 kilometres from its source in Schwenningen to where it meets the Rhine at Mannheim. Early on you reach Rottweil, the oldest town in Baden-Württemberg, then the university town of Tübingen and Heidelberg, with its castle ruins above the old town and the river. In between, vineyards line the route and wine taverns pour the local wines. The path is well built and mostly flat, so it suits families and relaxed stages too.
