The route at a glance

The Rhine Route is part of EuroVelo 15 and follows the Rhine from its source in the Swiss Alps to the North Sea at Hoek van Holland. It runs past alpine lakes and villages to Lake Constance, then via Basel, Strasbourg and Mainz to the Middle Rhine with its steep vineyards and castles. In the Netherlands it turns flat, with polders, windmills, excellent cycle paths and Rotterdam just before the sea. The route is well signposted, and you can ride it end to end or in sections.
