The route at a glance
The Spree Cycle Path follows the Spree for about 400 kilometres, from its source in Upper Lusatia near the Czech border to where it flows into the Havel in Berlin. In the south you ride through forests and gentle hills to Bautzen and Cottbus, home of the Sorbs, a Slavic minority with their own language. Further downstream lies the Spreewald, a UNESCO biosphere reserve of branching waterways and wooden punts. Finally you ride through Berlin past the Reichstag, the Chancellery and Museum Island. The path is well built and signposted.
