The route at a glance
The Tauber Valley Cycle Path follows the Tauber for about 130 kilometres from Rothenburg ob der Tauber, with its medieval old town, to where the river meets the Main at Wertheim. The paths are mostly flat, well built and signposted, leading through meadows, vineyards and shady woods along the river. In Creglingen the Riemenschneider altar stands in the Herrgottskirche, then you ride through Bad Mergentheim, Lauda-Königshofen and Tauberbischofsheim to Wertheim with its castle and old town. A relaxed river ride that also suits beginners.
