The route at a glance

The Tour de Creuse covers about 320 kilometres through the Creuse department, a rural and little-known part of France. From Guéret, the main town, you ride through hilly country with deep forests and clear rivers, and for a stretch along the Creuse, where you can stop for a swim. On the way are Aubusson, with its centuries-old tapestry tradition, and the fortified medieval town of La Souterraine. Local markets sell honey, cheese and Limousin beef. It suits you if you want long, quiet stages away from the usual destinations.
